THE COUNTDOWN

Effective February 10th, 2009 a November ruling by the CPSC (Consumer Protection Safety Commission)General Counsel in respect to last year's new CPSIA law, and the wording of the law itself,  makes ALL gently-used products for children 12 years of age and under, including CLOTHING illegal to resell  or 'place into the stream of commerce' by ANYONE, including parents, unless it meets the new lead content standards.

It will also effectively put most home-based and small, organic kid's clothing and toy maker's out of business at a time when so many Americans are already losing their jobs.

The law is complicated. The law is poorly written and confusing. Most Americans have no idea of the sweeping repurcussions this law will have across so many industries, many individual families and our nation's environment - especially landfills. Read lots of very recent consumer comments on hearing of the law!

Worse, many children's resale, consignment, thrift and annual/bi-annual kid's resale event owners and operators, both bricks and mortar and on-line, have no yet heard about this law. They have no idea, or are just now learning, that February 10th all of their merchandise in their inventory will be considered 'banned hazardous products' according to this Federal law.
